I came to visit your store in December and found your rules had changed. There was an awfully big sign suggesting no under 16’s are allowed on site.

I’m a new mum & love coming to your store & being a member. I understand why you may not want “kids” running around, potentially breaking items etc. but I have a well behaved (well he’s so young he can’t even be well behaved) 5 month old. I thought it would be okay as I’ve always received a warm welcome & great customer service from you over the years.

However. A very rude member of staff said to me I couldn’t bring him in. I said he’s hardly a child, he’s a five month old baby. To which she rudely replied “well he’s clearly under 16 like the sign says”.

I was mortified, upset & didn’t know what to do so left my mother in law and mother to shop and I simply drove home.

I was shopping with you to make Christmas wreaths to make some extra money on the side as maternity pay is quite simply, awful, and I wanted to make some extra money on the side to help support my family this Christmas. I am also in charge of Christmas decorations for a local rugby club so thought of you. At an average guess, I would have spent over £400 with you this afternoon had I been allowed in.

On reflection, it really is a discrimination to mums. What about mums who own florist businesses who have no childcare when they need to come and see you? What about mums like me? It’s hard enough being a mum and having to battle the world as it is, let alone facing more barriers when trying to have the confidence to do something.

I really do think you should take a big look at yourselves and also remind your staff about customer service and manners.
